More and more free to pitch events are available each month. Leaving me to ask the question, why would any competent CEO of a credible company admit to investors they would pay for that which is free. By the way, anyone want to buy my empty water bottles, I mean bottled air?

Here's a couple of pitch events coming up that were way under my radar screen until  pointed out to me by Bob Nelson, DCs Energizer Bunny of Entrepreneurs - Bob's been going and going and going since the 90's.

First there's my Favorite Local Organization the NVTC, DCTech's 234th best friend. NVTC is hosting a pitch event.

Here's the announcment from the NVTC Web Site:

Entrepreneur Spotlight Event

Presented by The Entrepreneur Center @NVTC

Date: November 29, 2012
Agenda

8:00 - 9:30 a.m. Program

Entrepreneur Spotlight provides startups seeking seed and early stage funding an opportunity to present their concept in front of an audience of accredited investors.

The Entrepreneur Spotlight program allows both experienced and potential new investors to hear the exciting and innovative ideas of startups pursuing seed funding. Entrepreneur Spotlight will focus on companies that are truly in the startup phase and may only be looking for small amounts of funding. During the event, the startups will have five minutes to present their business concepts and will be given 10 minutes to answer questions from a panel.

The program is intended solely to provide attendees an opportunity to learn about new emerging companies and hear directly from these entrepreneurs about what their companies do, how they do it, what markets they address and their plans for future growth. The program is informational only. No offering of securities will be made by any participants and neither this program nor the presentations by the participating companies should be deemed solicitations of interest for investment.

AOL Fishbowl Labs

Fishbowl Labs DC Debut event set for November 28th 6-9pm
posted by Fletcher Jones on October 30th, 2012

For the past few months we've been quietly assembling a vibrant community of startups on the AOL campus in Dulles, VA. We're well on our way and thought it was time to host our first event with our friends and colleagues from the DC startup community.

In addition to learning more about Fishbowl and meeting the startups, we'll have AOL alumn and Revolution Ventures head Tige Savage on hand for a moderated Q&A with one of his portfolio CEOs.

It should be a lot of fun and we hope you can make it.
